Nationalization Helps Recovery of Companies, Says Bolivian President

''The nationalization of natural resources allowed the recovery of strategic companies that were in private hands and responded to foreign interests,'' said Bolivian President Evo Morales.

Morales said from the southern department of Tarija that Bolivia 'was politically and economically subject to the United States Embassy, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.'

'However, the aware involvement of social movements freed us from this subjugation and we were able to recover the trust of Bolivians as well' said Morales.

Following the opening ceremony for the new building of Banco Union, a work that required an investment of almost $3 million USD, Morales reiterated that nationalization led to a change in economic policies.

Morales reiterated that when a country is subjected to foreign policies, it never develops.

'Thanks to this praiseworthy and sovereign management, we are able to implement the proper programs and policies that ensure that investment are made and works are opened in all departments,' said Morales.
