Kuczynski: Maduro can come to the Summit of the Americas, but we will see how Venezuelans in Perú receive him

President Nicolás Maduro can "come" to Lima's Summit of the Americas in April, but "we'll see how Venezuelans receive it" in Peru, the president said on Wednesday.

"He is invited, he can come, but we will see how Venezuelans who are in Peru receive tens of thousands," Kuczynski told reporters after inspecting advances in drinking water works in Lima.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza confirmed on Tuesday that the Venezuelan leader will attend the summit of leaders of the Americas of Lima, after receiving an invitation from his Peruvian counterpart.

The minister published a facsimile of the letter of invitation signed by Kuczynski, with whom Maduro maintains a bitter controversy in the midst of which the two countries expelled their diplomatic representatives last August.

Kuczynski, who helped form the Lima Group of 14 American nations - which seeks a democratic solution to the deep crisis in Venezuela - coincided in his positions towards Caracas with the US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, during his visit to Lima. week.
